    Worth buying second pair

I purchased this model of headphones just over two years ago. Was so pleased with them, that I have a second pair of this very same model. I can charge one when its battery is empty and use the other one so that I am not missing out when I do need headphones. When the built-in (non-user-replaceable) battery in the first pair has finally been exhausted, I will still have another pair of these headphones. I wanted headphones where I have the flexibility to listen both wired and wireless. I am not interested in noise cancellation, so I am not missing out on this feature. I can charge from anywhere that has a USB-A port. There has been no problem of tightness with either headphones. They feel fine on the head and ears. The sound has been fine for me, whether listening to verbal discussion or music. I just wish The Good Guys had the white one, so I could distinguish from a distance which is which. Only one minor issue is the wearing out of the ear cuffs (peeling off of the cuff material) occurring after some time with a lot of use. This is not a major issue as it does not affect fit/comfort over ears or sound quality, and is what only I as the user notice. Overall, highly recommended, especially as they are not overly expensive.

    Microphone is terrible

Pros: Sound is fine, and the headset is comfortable. Cons: You can't charge the headset while it's in use. The microphone produces a high pitch noise on 's' sounds in speech for anyone unfortunate enough to be listening in a voice call.

Things to consider

This model focuses on solid sound and wireless convenience rather than premium features, so buyers wanting active noise cancelling, finer detail retrieval or more premium materials may prefer a higher-end alternative.

Noise cancelling effectiveness

4/10 - no active noise cancelling, but the over-ear closed-back design provides useful passive isolation.

All-day comfort score

7/10 - comfortable for regular daily use, though the more budget-focused build is not as plush as premium models.

Commuter suitability

7/10 - good wireless convenience and passive isolation for travel, but less effective in very noisy environments than ANC headphones.

Audiophile vs casual fit

Best for casual listeners who want studio-inspired sound rather than a dedicated audiophile headphone.

Multi-device flexibility

8/10 - multipoint pairing and optional wired use make it easy to move between everyday devices.

Q: What is the difference between the Audio Technica M20x and M20xBT headphones?

A: The M20xBT adds Bluetooth wireless listening, multipoint pairing and a low latency mode, while keeping the M20x-style studio tuning and 40 mm drivers. It also uses a detachable 3.5 mm cable, unlike the original wired M20x with a fixed cable.

Q: Can the Audio Technica M20xBT be used for gaming or video streaming?

A: Yes, the M20xBT includes a low latency mode to help keep audio and video better aligned during streaming and gaming. It is more suitable for casual play and media use than for buyers who need a dedicated gaming headset with a built-in boom mic.

Q: Can the Audio Technica M20xBT connect to two devices at the same time?

A: Yes, the M20xBT supports multipoint pairing, so it can stay connected to two Bluetooth devices at once. That is useful if you want to switch between a phone and laptop without re-pairing each time, especially for work, calls and everyday listening.

Q: Does the Audio Technica M20xBT still work with a wired connection?

A: Yes, a 3.5 mm TRS cable is included for wired listening when Bluetooth is not preferred or the battery is low. This also makes it easier to connect to devices with a headphone jack, including studio gear, desktops and in-flight entertainment systems.

Q: Are the Audio Technica M20xBT headphones good for studio-style listening at home and on the go?

A: Yes, they are tuned to reflect Audio Technica's wired studio monitor sound, with 40 mm drivers and enhanced low-frequency performance.
