    Disappointing Performance and Very Noisy

I’m quite disappointed with the cooktop. While it looks good and is easy to clean, the actual performance has not met expectations. The heating is inconsistent, especially when using multiple pots at the same time. Some zones struggle to maintain heat, making it difficult to cook efficiently when more than two burners are in use. This is very frustrating for a 90cm induction cooktop that should comfortably handle multiple dishes. Another major issue is the noise. The cooling fans are extremely loud, particularly when several zones are operating. The noise continues even after cooking, which is disruptive and not something I expected from a modern induction cooktop. Overall, for the price, I expected much better performance and quieter operation. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this cooktop if you regularly cook with multiple pots or value a quieter kitchen environment.

Don’t buy it, you will regret

First of all, I purchased this cooktop online as a Click & Collect order, but I never received any communication from The Good Guys. I had to visit the store in person to follow up. I am also very disappointed with this cooktop for the following reasons: • The burners do not heat evenly; at the same setting, they may become extremely hot or not hot enough at all. • Deep scratches appeared after only a few uses, despite very careful handling. • The burner cooling fans are extremely loud and quite disturbing during operation. • The electrical installation was very expensive, as changes to the existing electrical system were required. • The cooktop struggles when multiple pots are used at the same time, causing inconsistent performance and poor cooking results.

Q: Can the Haier 90cm 500 Series induction cooktop replace a 90cm gas cooktop?

A: Yes, it can replace a 90cm gas cooktop, but the electrical and benchtop requirements are different. Induction cooktops are typically hardwired and need a suitable dedicated circuit, while cut-out dimensions can also vary. Discuss with your electrician.

Q: What cookware works best on this Haier 5 zone induction cooktop?

A: Induction works best with flat-based magnetic cookware, such as cast iron and many stainless steel pans. A fridge magnet is a quick guide. Aluminium, copper or glass pans only work if they have an induction-compatible magnetic base.

Q: Is a 90cm 5 zone induction cooktop a good choice for larger households?

A: Yes, a 90cm 5 zone layout suits larger households because it gives more room for multiple pots at once than a 60cm cooktop. That helps when boiling, frying and simmering together, though oversized pans can still reduce usable space.

Q: Why can this induction cooktop make a humming or buzzing sound during cooking?

A: Induction can make a light hum because energy is transferred directly into the pan, and the cooling fan may also be heard. The sound is often more noticeable on high settings or with thinner pan bases, and is usually normal in everyday use.

Q: Does this Haier induction cooktop heat faster than a ceramic electric cooktop?

A: Yes, induction generally heats faster than ceramic radiant cooking because it heats the cookware directly rather than warming the glass first. That usually means quicker boiling and more responsive temperature changes, provided the pan is induction compatible.

Q: Can two large frying pans be used at the same time on this 90cm cooktop?

A: Yes, a 90cm cooktop is better suited to using two large frying pans side by side than a 60cm model. Even so, very wide pans can crowd neighbouring zones or controls, so flat pans that closely match the cooking zone size work best.
