Having moved from a wall projector we found this is a much crisper picture and great sound even from the onboard speakers.

I have been really impressed with the projector, initially I thought I would require a screen to project onto to get a good picture, but have been blown away by how great the picture looks. Setup was also relatively straightforward. Setting up with my amp for sound took a little longer than expected, but then I found the culprit, old HDMI cable, and after that Dobly atmos setup etc was easy.

The Hisense PL1H is a premium ultra short throw laser projector built for people who want a large, cinematic image without ceiling mounting or long cable runs. It is especially well suited to lounge rooms, media rooms and users upgrading from a big TV. Key strengths are its space-friendly setup, smart streaming convenience and immersive movie feel. One limitation is that room light control still matters for the best picture performance.
Compared with higher-end dedicated theatre projectors, black levels and peak HDR impact may be less convincing in bright rooms, so it performs best when lighting is managed.
8.8/10 - excellent for large-screen movies and streaming, especially in controlled lighting and modern lounge room setups.
Best for small to large living rooms and media rooms where the projector can sit close to the wall or screen.
7.8/10 - good for casual and mainstream console gaming on a big screen, though competitive players may prefer more gaming-focused projector or TV options.
9/10 - ultra short throw placement is straightforward and usually simpler than ceiling-mounted projector installations.
Quiet to moderate for a home theatre projector; generally unobtrusive in typical movie viewing.
A: Yes, it can work as a TV alternative if the room light is reasonably controlled. The 2100 ANSI lumens output is bright for a laser projector, but picture contrast and black levels will look better at night or with curtains drawn.
A: It needs far less depth than a standard projector because it uses an ultra short throw design. For a 120-inch image, Hisense states the PL1H can sit just 42cm from the wall, making it easier to place on a low TV unit.
A: It can project onto a smooth, flat wall, but a proper ultra short throw screen usually gives better contrast, sharper detail and fewer hotspot issues. That matters more if the room has ambient light or textured paint finishes.
A: Yes, the PL1H is designed for images from 80 inches to 120 inches. Screen size is changed by moving the projector to the correct distance from the wall, so it suits rooms where a fixed large TV would be too limiting.
A: Hisense rates the X-Fusion laser light source for 25,000+ hours of use. That is roughly 17 years at 4 hours a day, and it avoids the lamp replacement cycle associated with older lamp-based home theatre projectors.
